Not a Genuine Black Man

“Not a Genuine Black Man” is a solo play written and performed by Brian Copeland.

Both gut-wrenching and funny, Brian’s story of growing up in the 99.4% white town of San Leandro struck a deep chord in the Bay Area and beyond. What was scheduled to be a 6-week run at San Francisco’s iconic theater, The March, turned into the longest-running solo show in San Francisco theatrical history. And it traveled. Copeland took it for an off-Broadway run and played to packed houses in 30 cities across the country. A best-selling memoir based on the show is required reading at several high schools and colleges around the country and the show is currently in development for television. Brian Copeland is an original voice, courageous and clear, funny and sharp, and never more important to listen to than right now.

Each comes with a unique story – some are veterans, some newcomers, but all will amaze with their philosophy and the quality of their wines. For those wine lovers who visit Sonoma and wonder: "Where can I find the fantastic, unknown wines from the small guys? How can I find the off the beaten track wineries?" This is the event to bring the “Sonoma Underground” above ground.
