There’s something happening – March edition

By: Kristie Sheppard

If you are looking for a great time to visit wine country, consider the month of March. The tourist season isn’t quite in full gear yet so it’s not too crowded and lodging is a bit more affordable, but there sure are a plethora of events to enjoy! You might rub shoulders with a movie star at Sonoma International Film Festival or discover the best cheese you ever ate at the California Artisan Cheese Festival. We chose five great reasons to visit Sonoma County this Month.

Laugh your ass off

Famed comedian, known for The Seinfeld Show and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry Seinfeld brings his standup to the Luther Burbank Center on March 2 and 3. Tickets start at $78.

Eat your way through wine country

From March 5 through 11, over 125 restaurants throughout the County will participate in the 9th annual Sonoma County Restaurant Week. Two-course lunches are either $10 or $15 and three-course dinners are $19, $29 or $39. From your favorite neighborhood spot to four-star restaurants are among the participants. Explore all the restaurants here.

Taste wine straight from the barrel with your favorite winemakers

Rollout the barrels and taste through hard-to-find and the upcoming vintage from some of Sonoma Valley’s most popular wineries. Savor Sonoma Valley is on March 17 and 18.

Snap a photo with your favorite movie star

From March 21 through 25 the red carpet rolls out on the plaza for the Sonoma International Film Festival. The film festival is more than just movies. The five-day festival is filled with the stars, amazing food, parties that last until the wee hours of the morning and of course, wine.

Find the perfect cheese to pair with every wine

Nothing pairs better with wine than a great cheese! Explore California’s cheese culture at the 12th annual Artisan Cheese Festival from March 23 through 25. Attendees get up close and personal with the farmers and producers of northern California’s cheeses. The festival includes farm and creamery tours, lunches and dinners, and seminars. Pairing demos match cheese with charcuterie, beer, bubbles, cocktails and more traditionally, wine.
