Sonoma’s iconic palm tree at the intersection of Broadway and Napa Street is one of the first things visitors see when approaching our historic Sonoma Plaza. The Plaza is not only the largest in the state, but it is also home to around 60 different types of trees, the California Fan Palm being one of them. The fronds on this type of tree can grow up to 6 feet long and it can be anywhere from 59-82 feet tall! In its natural habitat, the California Fan Palm is home to bighorn sheep and coyotes, but maybe we’ll just stick with ducks inhabiting our Plaza! As a trademark of this town and region, our California Fan Palm is always welcoming visitors to Real Wine Country.
